El cáncer de la piel afecta a más gente en el mundo que cualquier otra forma de cáncer. Si bien es más común entre las personas de piel clara, cualquier persona puede contraer cáncer de la piel.

La causa principal del cáncer de la piel es la radiación ultravioleta (UV) proveniente de la luz solar, en especial cuando se pasa mucho tiempo al sol. Evitar la exposición excesiva es la mejor defensa contra el cáncer de la piel. Además, si el cáncer de la piel se detecta a tiempo, existen mayores probabilidades de que el tratamiento sea exitoso.
